Blood on Trump’s Right Ear

Yesterday I touched briefly on the fact that many on the right are now viewing the failed assassination attempt on Trump as evidence that not only is he protected by God, but that he IS God’s Chosen One. After all, it was a miracle he survived, and miracles only come from God, right?

Well, actually the Bible tells us that in the last days there will be miracles which come from the spirits of devils, and we can read about that in the 16^th chapter of Revelation.

“And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.” – Rev 16:13-14

But, beyond the fact that the spirits of devils have the power to do miracles, we now see this getting even more crazy. Many of these same self-professing Christians have come up with the idea that Trump having blood on his ear means that he is consecrated by God.

This idea is coming from a couple of chapters in Leviticus, which reference ceremonial cleansing.

“And he brought the second ram, the ram of consecration. Then Aaron and his sons laid their hands on the head of the ram, and Moses killed it. Also he took some of its blood and put it on the tip of Aaron’s right ear, on the thumb of his right hand, and on the big toe of his right foot. Then he brought Aaron’s sons. And Moses put some of the blood on the tips of their right ears, on the thumbs of their right hands, and on the big toes of their right feet. And Moses sprinkled the blood all around on the altar.” – Leviticus 8:22-24

“And of the rest of the oil that is in his hand shall the priest put upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot, upon the blood of the trespass offering” – Leviticus 14:17

The verses in Leviticus 8 refer to the consecration of Aaron and his sons, while chapter 14 covers instructions to Moses on ceremonial cleansing of a person that previously had leprosy, but who was now free of the disease.

Nearly all Bible scholars interpret these verses about the ear as meaning attentive to the commands of God; the hand as ready to do His will; and the foot as prepared to walk in His ways. The right ear, hand and foot are specified because the right was considered superior to the left.

What has caught the attention of MAGA Christians, of course, is the references to blood on the right ear as that is what happened to Donald J. Trump last Saturday night. To them, this now means that Trump has been consecrated by God.

What should be obvious is that millions of people have had blood on their right ears at some point in their lives. Either through an injury, or an ear piercing, or perhaps being in a fight, or otherwise.

But NONE OF THEM are said to have been consecrated by God. It’s only because it happened to Trump, that this idea is even brought up.

There’s something about Trump that has mesmerized these people. They make excuses for what he says or does. They defend him no matter what. And they are now looking for ways to make him holy.

How much longer will it be before they worship him? ♦
