Is Satan the Antichrist?

A frequent comment on my videos is a reference to how the Antichrist is none other than Satan himself. That these two figures in the Bible are actually the same being. So, what does the Bible teach us about this?

It turns out that there is a relatively easy way to find out what the Bible says. And, upon studying the Bible, we find out that the Antichrist is a real person, distinct from Satan. Here’s how we know.

1) The Antichrist and the False Prophet are alive, according to Revelation 19:20.

“And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.” – Revelation 19:20

In this verse, we are told that the Antichrist and the False Prophet are thrown ALIVE into the lake of fire. The reference to being alive is important, because we can compare this verse to Genesis 2:7.

“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” – Genesis 2:7

Thus, by telling us in Revelation 19:20 that the Antichrist and the False Prophet are alive, the Bible is also telling us that they were, at some point, given the breath of life. That means they are human.

By contrast, God created angels, which includes fallen angels like Satan, before the world was created. They are eternal, spiritual beings. There is no biblical reference to angels being given the breath of life as humans are.

2) The Antichrist and Satan are thrown into the lake of fire at different times.

The Bible teaches us that the Antichrist is thrown into the lake of fire BEFORE Satan is. We simply have to compare Revelation 19:20, which we just saw, with Revelation 20:10.

“And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.” – Revelation 19:20

“And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.” – Revelation 20:10

As we can see, Revelation 20:10 explains that when Satan is thrown into the lake of fire, the Antichrist and the False are already there. Clearly, then, the Antichrist and Satan are NOT the same figure in the Bible.
