The video about the 3rd temple is still being worked on, and I hope to have that done by Monday the 25th, so thanks for your patience, but in the meantime there are a couple of news headlines over the past few days that are worth paying attention to.
The first headline is about how America’s march toward Christian Nationalism continues slowly but surely, as the Texas Board of Education has voted to approve Bible curriculum in elementary schools.
The curriculum adopted by the state education board, which is controlled by elected Republicans, is optional for schools, BUT they will receive additional funding if it’s implemented.
The new Texas curriculum follows Republican-led efforts in neighboring states to give religion more of a presence in public schools. And by religion, I mean Christianity.
In Oklahoma, the state’s education chief has ordered a copy of the Bible in every classroom, while Louisiana wants to make all of the state’s public school classrooms post the Ten Commandments beginning next year.
On the surface, these might seem like noble ideas to many Christians, but in fact they will serve to further conflate Christianity with America, resulting in a type of religious patriotism that promotes the false idea that we are a good and righteous nation chosen by God. We are not.
The second headline is about how Trump and his team still haven’t signed agreements to begin transition of power. Trump himself has NOT agreed to memorandums of understanding with the General Service Administration, which includes an ethics policy.
The delay in submitting the documents – which typically are filed at least a month before presidential elections – means the government can’t provide security clearances, briefings and resources to Trump’s incoming team before the president-elect is sworn into office on Jan. 20.
Despite not formalizing the transition of power, Trump continues to move aggressively to assemble members of his next White House staff and Cabinet. Speaking of Trump nominees, that brings us to the next story.
The third headline is that another Trump nominee is raising red flags. This one is Tulsi Gabbard, the nominee for director of national intelligence. Apparently some Republican senators are anxious to see her FBI file, since she has a history of alignment with Russia.
Ironically, Trump’s nomination of Tulsi Gabbard and Pete Hegseth are now drawing MORE scrutiny since Matt Gaetz withdrew his name for Attorney General. Of course, Trump replaced Gaetz with Pam Bondi, who is not only just as loyal as Gaetz, but she’s way more capable.
The fourth headline is how Trump’s margin in the election of a couple of weeks ago has shrunk as the last few votes are counted. Trump will now likely end up with under 50% of the popular vote once the final results are in, meaning he would not capture a majority.
This demonstrates that the election was more of a repudiation of Biden, Harris and the Democrats than it was a vote for Trump – and despite what Trump would claim, it was certainly not a mandate.
The final headline is about Hurricane Helene, and a story about how as floodwater receded in western North Carolina, residents discovered a Bible that had become stuck on a fence post while opened to – get this – the book of Revelation.
Following the discovery, a protective case fashioned out of plastic, wood and cinder blocks was built around the Bible.
Hearing that this Bible was found stuck on a fence post and opened to the book of Revelation is a fascinating story, of course, but personally speaking, I’d like to know what chapter of Revelation.
Thanks for watching and I’ll talk to you guys soon. ♦
