By now almost all of us have heard about the Bible that was found wrapped around a pole after Hurricane Helene passed through, and after the floodwaters receded. This was in Old Fort, North Carolina, which is on west end of the state.
As you can see, the Bible was apparently found more or less open to Revelation 14, which seems rather ominous. There are numerous videos on Tik Tok and YouTube about this, and I’ll play a few as I’m speaking.
Needless to say, in those videos on Tik Tok and YouTube, just about every reaction from Christians has been that this is definitely a sign from God.
Of course, none of us really KNOW whether or not this was any kind of sign from God, so all any of us can do is make a guess … and, unfortunately, a lot of times those guesses are based on what we want to be true.
In looking at a few of these videos I did notice a few things that bothered me.
First, a number of different images of this Bible are a bit different. Such as this one and this one. You’ll notice that in one image the Bible is open to Revelation 11, and in the other it’s Revelation 14.
Now, I’m not saying that these images are fake, or that this scene was contrived. Rather, that there does seem to be a bit of a subjective interpretation as to what chapter of Revelation it was open to.
You’ll also notice that in some pictures that show Revelation 14, the page on the right seems smoothed out a bit – as if someone touched it.
And indeed, there were several people who filmed the Bible up close before it was put in a case, so it would have been pretty easy for a person to touch one of the pages to make it more visible.
Contrast that with how the Bible was put in the case, where it seems to have all the pages on the right pushed down so as to emphasize chapter 14. This picture is a little blurry, but you can see what I mean.
I didn’t see any information on who put the Bible in a case, so I can’t tell how much they might have touched the pages. But it does appear that an effort was made to focus in on chapter 14.
The pictures do show that this Bible was missing its cover, so it’s kind of an exaggeration to say that it was open to one exact page as some sort of message.
Basically if you remove the cover from the Bible you’re going to automatically be at Genesis and Revelation. Was it REALLY open to Revelation 14, or was the fact that the cover and a few pages removed make it seem that way?
Let’s get to the bottom line. Was this some kind of sign from God? To answer that, I’ll ask another question: Why does everything have to be a sign? We seem to constantly LOOK for signs in everything, especially disasters.
Remember the supposed cross found in the 9/11 wreckage. Was it really a cross, or actually a part of the building that was destroyed? It depends on who you ask, I suppose.
Or the so-called Sign of Jonah from earlier this year, with the eclipse that kind of, sort of, passed over all of these towns named Nineveh. Again, a lot of us were just LOOKING for signs.
We should also ask ourselves if a Bible wrapped around a pole SOUNDS like a sign that God would give us? After all, wasn’t it more meaningful that a couple of hundred people died in Hurricane Helene? Wouldn’t THAT be the sign, if we were looking for one?
As far as being open to Revelation 14, the fact is that no matter what chapter the Bible would have been open to, there would be people who would have found some spiritual reason.
And, as I said a moment ago, if you take the cover off of a Bible, you’re already at either Genesis or Revelation, so chances are you’re going to see a chapter that has a great deal of meaning.
To reiterate, I don’t know whether or not this was a sign from God. None of us do. Personally, I tend to doubt it, not only because it looks like this Bible might have been handled by a few different people, but when God sends America a sign, we’re going to KNOW it.
Thanks for watching and I’ll talk to you guys soon. ♦
