Donald Trump and John 5:43

Of all the Bible prophecies about the Antichrist, there is one that stands out above the others because it has clearly been fulfilled. Even more, that prophecy was spoken by Jesus Himself.

The verse I’m referring to describes how Jesus is speaking to the Jewish religious leaders of His day, and He tells them that even though they rejected Him, they will accept someone else who comes in his own name.

That verse is John 5:43, and it reads as follows. “I am come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.”

The first part of the verse talks about how the Jews rejected Jesus even though He had fulfilled prophecies about the coming Messiah, and despite the miracles that they had witnessed.

But the prophetic part of this verse is the latter half, in which Jesus told the Jewish religious leaders that they would, at some future date, accept someone who came in his own name.

So, what does it mean to “come in one’s own name”?

Jesus coming in the name of the Father meant that He represented the authority and power of God, so likewise, the one who the Jews will accept will have his own authority and power. He represents himself.

This person will have made a name for himself all around the world, so that anywhere he goes he will be known. He will be an immensely famous person on a worldwide scale.

And indeed, this is exactly what has been fulfilled as Israel has now overwhelmingly accepted and embraced a man in Donald Trump, who has come in his own name, with his own authority and power.

They have named train stations and town squares after him, and his image is on commemorative temple coins next to King Cyrus.

Even more, this adulation of Trump by Israel continues to grow with the help of evangelical Christians who continue to promote the idea of Trump bringing peace to the middle east, just as they talk of him being America’s savior.

But as we see how Trump arrived on the political scene ten years ago, using his own fame to gain acceptance into both the Christian church and in Israel, his name continues to be promoted even more all around the world.

Because while Trump’s name already appears on many buildings and golf courses in many nations, there are now numerous plans to rename roads and airports after him.

To put him name and image on legal currency; to add his image to Mount Rushmore; to give him the Nobel Peace Prize; to even naming things after his wife.

In other words, even though Trump’s image is nearly everywhere we look nowadays, and even though we’re constantly hearing and seeing the name “Trump” on social media, it’s only going to get worse.

What we are witnessing is the world literally being given over to Donald Trump to make his own. To do with as he desires.

He is the epitome of the one who has come in his own name. ♦
