Did Trump Send A Veiled Threat To Attorney General Merrick Garland?

There’s been a few different reports over the weekend that former president Donald Trump attempted to convey a cryptic message to Attorney General Merrick Garland following the FBI raid of his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida.

According to this story, Trump wanted Garland to know that he had been speaking with people around the country and that they were enraged by the FBI search. “The country is on fire. What can I do to reduce the heat?” was the message Trump wanted to be conveyed to Garland.

A person close to the former president reached out to a Justice Department official to give Garland the message, however it is not clear if the message reached him. Immediate reactions to this story is that Trump was sending a veiled threat to Garland.

In fact, it’s hard to interpret Trump’s message as anything BUT a veiled threat, because Trump certainly understands that he could single-handedly reduce the tensions in the country if he simply laid off the inflammatory rhetoric.

But that won’t happen, of course, as divisive and inflammatory rhetoric has not only been a hallmark of Trump’s political career, but it’s actually the reason for his rise to power as he has played on the deep divisions in this country, over and over again.

If these reports are accurate, and Trump did try and convey such a message to the Attorney General, he was clearly telling the Department of Justice that he can rip this country in two any time he wants, if he so desires.

One of the traits of the Antichrist is that he will sow discord. Because by dividing people against one another – and especially dividing Christians against one another – the Antichrist is able to empower himself. It’s the epitome of divide and conquer.

If we can be sure of one thing, it’s that Trump will not change over the coming days, months and years, and suddenly look to bring people together. Instead, he will continue to sow discord with inflammatory rhetoric, because he knows THAT is how he can regain power.
