Let’s talk for a few minutes about how a Christian should act, including how we should think and talk, according to the Bible. Now, there are dozens of such descriptions in God’s word, but I want to focus in on 10 verses specifically.
First, we are to be compassionate, according to 1 John 3:17.
“If anyone with earthly possessions sees his brother in need, but withholds his compassion from him, how can the love of God abide in him?”
Second, we are to be generous, according to 2 Corinthians 9:6.
“But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.”
Third, we are to be forgiving, according to Ephesians 4:32.
“And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”
Fourth, we are to be humble, according to James 4:6.
“God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
Fifth, we are to love one another, according to 1 John 4:7.
“Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.”
Sixth, we are to be truthful, according to Ephesians 4:25.
“Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.”
Seventh, we are to be peaceful, according to Matthew 5:9.
“Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.”
Eighth, we are to be mature, according to 1 Corinthians 14:20.
“Brothers, stop thinking like children. In regard to evil be infants, but in your thinking be mature.”
Ninth, we should seek out wisdom, according to James 1:5.
“Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.”
Tenth, we should be virtuous, according to Philippians 4:8.
“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
So, these are the ways that we as Christians should be: compassionate, generous, forgiving, humble, loving, truthful, peaceful, mature, wise, and virtuous. And there are dozens of Bible verses that teach us this, not just the ones I mentioned.
But here’s where it gets interesting. While those 10 characteristics are how we as Christians should strive to conduct ourselves, the Man of Sin that we were warned about in the Bible – the one we call the Antichrist – will be exactly the opposite.
Instead of compassionate, he will be cruel and even callous.
Instead of generous, he will be selfish and filled with greed.
Instead of forgiving, he will be vindictive and seek retribution.
Instead of humble, he will arrogant and boastful.
Instead of loving, he will be indifferent and lacking sympathy.
Instead of truthful, he will be deceptive and dishonest.
Instead of peaceful, he will be chaotic and hostile.
Instead of mature, he will be childish and even infantile.
Instead of wise, he will be ignorant and even foolish.
Instead of virtuous, he will be vile.
Thus by studying how the Bible teaches us the traits and characteristics we are to have as Christians, we can also understand that it is telling us that how the final Antichrist will be. And that is, he will be the complete opposite of what we are to be.
In every sense of the word, the Antichrist will be the Anti Christian. And by him having all of these traits that are the opposite of what we are to have as Christians, helps us to identify him as the final Antichrist.
