On April 8th of 2024, just a couple of weeks from now, there will be a total solar eclipse crossing the United States. Compared with the last total eclipse that crossed the country, in 2017, this year’s total eclipse will last longer and the sky will fall much darker.
In addition, millions more people will be able to see one of the more astounding astronomical events of their lives. Nearly 32 million people will be inside the path of totality, which is about 2½ times as many as during the 2017 eclipse. This will also be the last major eclipse to cross North America for 20 years.
With Christians interested in Bible prophecy, there’s been no shortage of YouTube videos claiming that this eclipse marks a judgment from God. They base that on the path of the 2017 total eclipse and the 2024 total eclipse, and notice that a giant X does indeed form over the heart of America.
Add in the fact that these two eclipses are almost, but not quite, 7 years apart, and many are convinced that something terrible is about to happen.
So, are these type of eclipses a sign that God’s judgment is upon us? What does the Bible actually say on this matter? About 2 years back I did a lengthy video that looked into what the Bible teaches us about signs in the heavens above, and especially things such as solar eclipses and blood moons.
