Last night was a prime example of how utterly dominant Trump is on the political scene, as republicans all but got down on their knees to praise Trump, while democrats did a great job at demonstrating just how powerless they are.
Trump was basically treated as America’s Messiah by republicans – check out the hat worn by Marjorie Taylor Greene, which reads “Trump was right about everything.” After the speech, Lindsey Graham posted on X “Trump 2028.”
Meanwhile, the democrats seemed to be TRYING to show how incompetent they are by holding up silly little signs, and even refusing to applaud when they should have. Brit Hume on Fox summed this up the best.
To no one’s surprise, there were numerous lies in Trump’s speech, which was to be expected because that’s the type of person he is. The truth simply means nothing UNLESS it can serve to glorify him in some way.
The difficulty in pointing out Trump’s lies, especially in a speech that lasted an hour and forty minutes, is that he usually includes a grain of truth in what he says. He does a great job – if it can be called that – of mixing truth and lies.
In other words, Trump is an expert liar. Let me you a couple of examples from what Trump said.
“Hundreds of thousands of illegal crossings a month, and virtually all of them including murderers, drug dealers, gang members and people from mental institutions and insane asylums were released into our country.”
It is true that under Biden, record numbers of migrants crossed the border. However, there is simply no evidence that “virtually all” of these crossings included violent criminals or people from mental institutions.
“We ended the last administration’s insane electric vehicle mandate, saving our autoworkers and companies from economic destruction.”
The Biden administration had incentives for electric vehicles – which are not the same as a mandate. Every presidential administration has incentives for all types of things. But, again, these are not mandates.
“We inherited from the last administration an economic catastrophe and an inflation nightmare.”
Inflation did skyrocket during 2022, but was leveling off over the past year before Trump took office. Trump inherited an economy with relatively low unemployment and strong growth.
“Joe Biden especially let the price of eggs get out of control.”
The price of eggs did spike in early 2023 and again at the end of 2024, but it was due to a bird flu outbreak that had killed millions of egg-laying chickens. This has led to a shortage of eggs, which has caused prices to skyrocket.
“We have hundreds of thousands of federal workers who have not been showing up to work.”
Trump appeared to be confusing – perhaps deliberately confusing – teleworking with not showing up for work. These are not the same things. Trump was likely conflating these things to justify cutting departments and employees.
“Mexico and Canada… allowed fentanyl to come into our country at levels never seen before, killing hundreds of thousands of our citizens and many very young, beautiful people destroying families. Nobody’s ever seen anything like it.”
Trump equally blames Mexico and Canada, but Canada is a very minor player. According to Customs and Border Protection statistics, only 43 pounds of fentanyl were confiscated at the northern border in 2024 which was 0.2 percent of the volume at the U.S.-Mexico border.
Furthermore, most of the smuggling of fentanyl is done by U.S. citizens. Between 2019 and 2024, U.S. citizens were 80 percent of people caught with fentanyl during border crossings at ports of entry.
Between 2015 and 2024, 92 percent of fentanyl seizures actually occurred at legal crossing points or interior vehicle checkpoints, not at illegal migration routes.
“Europe has sadly spent more money buying Russian Oil and Gas than they have spent on defending Ukraine — by far!”
Trump is referring to a study that found the European Union in 2024 spent more on Russian fossil fuels than financial aid for Ukraine — but he is misrepresenting what the study was about.
The figures quoted in the study were ONLY concerning financial aid, and did not include military or humanitarian contributions. Overall, European spending on Ukraine greatly exceeded spending on Russian gas and oil.
Another statement of Trump’s was about Social Security, and I’m going to let him say this on his own, because it’s such a mishmash of half-truths and utter nonsense.
“We’re also identifying shocking levels of incompetence and probable fraud in the Social Security program for our seniors, and that our seniors and people that we love rely on. Believe it or not, government databases list 4.7 million Social Security members from people aged 100 to 109 years old. It lists 3.6 million people from ages 110 to 119. I don’t know any of them. I know some people that are rather elderly, but not quite. 3.47 million people from ages 120 to 129, 3.9 million people from ages 130 to 139, 3.5 million people from ages 140 to 149. …”
Trump appears to have gotten his numbers from what was posted on social media by Elon Musk. However, almost all of these figures referenced by Trump and Musk are flawed, and here’s why.
Numerous media outlets have shown that the numbers being cited by Trump and Musk stem from a coding issue, not a reference to people actually being that old. This claim by Trump has been widely debunked.
The Social Security Administration maintains its databases using COBOL, a nearly 70-year-old computer programming language that doesn’t have a standardized way to store and work with dates. Often a default date is chosen, most commonly May 20, 1875, if no birth date is known.
A 2023 report from the Social Security Administration’s inspector general found that virtually every beneficiary who lacked a birth date had died.
Of the 18.9 million people with Social Security numbers born in 1920 or earlier with no record of their deaths, the report said that approximately 98 percent are not currently receiving payments and have not had earnings reported to the Social Security Administration in the past 50 years.
But here’s what concerns me about Trump and Musk continuing to cite these figures. I believe it is possible they are trying to use this as a way to open the door for the privatization of social security. Or even, a new system to pay social security, since they claim the old system is filled with fraud.
That new system could stipulate that everyone once again sign up for social security, and might even have additional security requirements such as biometric data.
Other than Trump’s debunked claim about social security payments, two other statements of his were also unsettling. The first was his saying that God saved him to make America great.
There are two things wrong with this statement of Trump’s. First, he makes it sound as if God saved him because there is no one else in the world who could save America. God views Trump as America’s one and only savior.
Second, we have to remember the fact that another man died during the assassination attempt. Why would God save Trump but not this other man? To me, this sounds less like something God would do, and more like what Satan might do.
Finally, here is what Trump said about Greenland.
Donald Trump is telling us – and the world – that he intends to greatly expand the American empire, and he will do so by force if necessary. This is precisely what the Antichrist is to do, when he goes out conquering others.
And, in case I’m not being clear enough, the man you’re looking at on the screen right now IS the Antichrist. ♦
