Who Can Fight the Beast?

As we know, Donald Trump was indicted on four counts stemming from an investigation into the January 6 Capitol riot and efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

Just like all the other investigations into Trump, these indictments have also resulted in actually making him stronger in the eyes of his supporters. Conservative politicians are falling over themselves to defend him, while his MAGA base loves him more and more with each passing day.

For his part, Trump has taken a three-pronged approach to his defense. First, that he is a victim of political persecution. He claims that he is completely innocent and blameless, even a martyr, as he takes all the punishment for his supporters.

The second approach is how Trump constantly compares his legal problems to the alleged corruption of the Biden family. This line of attack resonates deeply with his supporters, especially because there is an element of truth to many of the accusations.

The third approach is an unrelenting attack on ALL his perceived enemies, the likes of which we have never seen from any other politician. Trump has always done this, of course, but it’s now a situation where you can actually sense the venom coming out of him in his Truth Social posts.

The wildcard in all of this are Trump supporters themselves, which consist of tens of millions of Americans. Many of these people are getting angrier by the day, and perceive the constant attacks on Trump as being on them.

The question is how close to a tipping point are we? Will something happen that ignites a fuse.

Personally, I think we might be closer to this tipping point than many of us realize, and it might not take much to push us over the edge and into a civil war. And if that happens, of course, we already know which side has most of the ammunition.

Here’s the scariest part: Donald Trump has already shown himself to be someone who will say or do almost anything to get what he wants. If need be, he is more than willing to burn it all down to serve his own purpose.

So, while millions upon millions of Americans seethe in anger, and so many possibilities for the country erupting in flames, Donald Trump stands in the doorway ready and willing to light a match.
