Ignoring the Bible: The Top 3 Myths About The Antichrist

Myth #2. The Antichrist will clearly have an anti-Christian agenda

The majority of the videos I’ve seen mistakenly teach that the Antichrist will arrive on the scene with an obvious anti-Christian agenda. He will have sympathies or affiliations with people and organizations that are opposed to Christianity’s core beliefs.

He will be openly against America in some way, as if America is the epitome of Christianity. He will promote socialism or communism, be pro-choice, be in favor of open borders and globalization, and even be a proponent of a New World Order.

The problem with this teaching, as we read in Second Corinthians, is that “Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light … Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness.”

Thus, rather than being clearly anti-Christian – the bible is teaching us that we should expect the final Antichrist to come on the scene as a strong supporter of Christianity and of Israel. He will masquerade himself as a force for good, and as a defender of Christian values.

There is a famous quote, usually attributed to Sinclair Lewis, that “When fascism comes to America, it will come wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.” Whether or not Sinclair Lewis actually said this is suspect, but it is a great quote.

A paraphrased version might read “When the Antichrist comes on the scene, he will come wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.” And if you think about it, there is simply no better way than this for one of Satan’s ministers to slither his way into the Christian community.

Trump has not only wrapped himself in the American flag, a time-tested method of getting conservative support, but he has also presented himself as the Great Defender of Christianity.

And the Christian community, with a stunning lack of discernment, has proudly stood behind this man of sin, viewing him as their hero.

The idea that the Antichrist will arrive on the scene with clearly identifiable anti-Christian traits is a myth. He will arrive – and has arrived – right in our midst, and right under our noses. He pretends to be a force for good and a defender of Christianity, when in fact he’s exactly the opposite.

As the bible says, Satan’s ministers masquerade themselves as ministers of righteousness, and the Antichrist has done precisely that. He is pretending to have the interests of Christianity in his heart, when in fact he wants all the praise, all the honor, and all the glory, for himself.

Myth #3. We cannot know who the Antichrist is until he is revealed

There is a common belief that we simply CAN NOT know who the Antichrist is because he is yet to be revealed to us. In fact, in the year and a half since I’ve had my channel, I’ve had many comments telling me I’m wrong about Trump for the sole reason that it is impossible to know who the Antichrist is right now.

The main verse on this topic is Second Thessalonians, chapter 2 and verse 3: “Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition.”

In this passage, Paul is looking to reassure the church of the Thessalonians that the gathering of the Saints with the Lord is NOT imminent, because both a “falling away” and the revealing of the Antichrist must happen first.

Before I go on, I know that some believe that the “falling away” in this verse refers to the pre-tribulation rapture. But, if we let the bible interpret the bible, this verse is more consistent with other verses referring to – not a rapture – but to believers who fall away from the TRUTH in the latter days.

In fact, Paul himself – the author of 2 Thessalonians – clearly talked about this falling away from the truth in two of his other letters.

In 1 Timothy 4, verse 1, we read: “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.”

And in 2 Timothy 4, verses 3 and 4, we read: “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”

Paul’s letters repeatedly teach us that a number of believers will fall away from the truth in the last days. Using the bible as our guide, then, the “falling away” in 2 Thessalonians is ALSO referring to believers turning away from the truth.

Anyway, let’s get back to rest of this passage. We see that the “falling away” is referring to those believers who turn their back on the faith in the latter days, and then we’re told that the Man of Sin is revealed. But here’s where it gets interesting.

After stating that the Man of Sin will be revealed in verse 3, Paul now tells us of an incredible event in verse 4: “he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.”

Verse 4 is telling us HOW the Antichrist is revealed. It’s the very act of sitting in the temple of God and claiming to BE God that reveals the Antichrist. This kind of action by a world leader will send shock waves around the world.

I believe that this stunning, worldwide event, will be seen or heard by billions of people across the globe. And the reason I say that is because, remember, Satan mimics God, and offers pale imitations of that which is holy.

In Revelation 1:7 we read about the Second Coming of Jesus, “Every eye shall see him.” Would Satan’s pale imitation of Christ be anything less than “every eye shall see the Antichrist” when he proclaims himself to be God?

It will be Satan’s counterfeit version of the second coming – only instead of Jesus, it will be the revealing of the Antichrist, who proclaims himself as savior of the world.

Thus we see that the Antichrist is revealed to the world by sitting in the 3rd temple and proclaiming to be God. Now, does that mean that no one can know who the Antichrist is before that event?
