The Coming Trump vs DeSantis Fight and Why Trump Will Remain King of the GOP

To the surprise of many, yesterday’s midterms did NOT turn out to be a red wave after all, with republicans now showing only modest gains in the house while control of the senate is yet to be determined.

Many political pundits are laying the blame for the GOP’s performance squarely at the feet of one Donald J. Trump, who endorsed poorly qualified candidates for no other reason than THEY worshiped at the altar of Donald J. Trump.

But while Trump is being largely viewed as the big loser from yesterday, there is another republican who has clearly emerged as, not only the big winner, but having firmly placed himself in a prime position to run for president in 2024. And that person is Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida.

DeSantis easily won his race against Democrat Charlie Crist, cruising to a 19-point landslide victory. In fact, the win was so decisive that many conservatives on Twitter were ready to crown DeSantis as the ‘head of the party.’

And it certainly seems as if Trump has noticed these accolades for DeSantis, because Trump is reportedly livid and screaming at everyone over Tuesday night’s midterm results. If there’s one thing Trump hates more than not getting credit for something, it’s being blamed when things go wrong.

In fact, Trump not only believes he should get all the credit, but he doesn’t believe he deserves ANY blame if a candidate loses. Check out this statement of his from earlier on Tuesday.

So today we have a scenario where Trump is looking around and not only seeing DeSantis being applauded by conservatives, but that he is also being blamed by some for the lackluster results in yesterday’s midterms. You just KNOW that all of this is making Trump’s blood boil.

Trump vs. DeSantis

What seems to be shaping up is a Trump vs. DeSantis fight to be the leader of the republican party, with many political pundits now wondering if those two will also battle it out for the republican nomination for president in 2024.

Although Trump’s hard-core base will stay behind him come hell or high water, there is some growing sentiment among conservatives that the time is right for DeSantis to take the lead and that the party will be better if Trump fades into the background.

Of course, fading into the background is NOT something Trump does, or has ever done. If there’s one thing we’ve learned over the many years he’s been in the public spotlight, it’s that he wants to be front and center in everything so he can be applauded for how great he is.

Which brings us to an interesting quote of Trump’s from just a couple of days ago, which much of the media didn’t focus on. And, in this quote, Trump had a warning for … Ron DeSantis.

Donald J. Trump has never hesitated to take the low road, whether in business or politics. He has attacked others with childish insults, denigrated his opponents for their looks, their height, and even suggested Cruz’s father was part of the JFK assassination.

A couple of days ago Trump was asked about the possibility of DeSantis running for president in 2024, and he made an interesting statement that may have been overlooked a bit because of the midterms. Here’s that statement of Trump’s.

“If he did run I could tell you things about him that won’t be very flattering. I know more about him than anybody, other than perhaps his wife, who’s really running his campaign.”

This is Trump being Trump, and telling DeSantis – and everyone else – that he will once again not hesitate to stoop to any level to win the 2024 nomination of his party. No matter how low someone goes, Trump will absolutely go lower.

Some are speculating as to whether Trump might delay next week’s announcement at Mar-a-Lago that he intends to again seek office, but it’s hard to see that happening. If Trump did delay that for any reason, he would be opening the door just a bit wider for DeSantis to be seen as leader of the party.

The King of the GOP

Trump is still king of the GOP, and the only way that changes is if he relinquishes the crown to DeSantis. But that’s not Trump. That’s not what he does. He not only wants to keep his crown, but he will go down to any depth to prevent anyone from taking it from him.

While democrats and some on the right certainly want Trump to go away, that’s simply not going to happen. It’s not in his DNA. In fact, Trump’s brand of vile politics might get even worse – especially if DeSantis starts hinting at a run for president.

A Trump vs. DeSantis fight definitely appears inevitable, but the question will be “how far does it go?” Does DeSantis acquiesce to Trump leadership of the GOP, and bow out of potentially running for president? Or is DeSantis feeling more powerful than ever, and believes that his time has arrived?

In my view, I do believe there will be a bloody fight between the two, but DeSantis will eventually learn the same lesson that every other republican who fought against Trump learned: you can’t fight against the beast. He will do or say anything to win.

But many on the right DO envision DeSantis as the future of the GOP, even if Trump is temporarily in his way. So that leads us to perhaps only logical solution: Trump vs. DeSantis will eventually turn into Trump AND DeSantis.

There is one last thing I want to mention. I get the feeling that many of us are making a big mistake about Trump, and it’s a mistake that I also made in some of my earlier videos.

When I first started this channel, which will be 3 years ago this coming February, my videos largely talked about how Trump would win the 2020 election. Needless to say, I was completely wrong about that, as a few of you certainly pointed out.

The big mistake I made in those earlier videos, and that some of us might still be making, is assuming that Trump will take a linear path to world power. That is, he will continue growing in power as president of the United States, without any detour or setbacks on his way to becoming the Antichrist.

For example, in hindsight we can see now that his 2020 election loss actually empowered Trump with his base, and gave many on the right a reason to rally behind him as they perceived the election as being stolen.

So while now it appears that Trump is weakening while DeSantis is growing stronger, we should remember that we’re dealing with a man, in Trump, who perfectly matches the biblical descriptions for the Antichrist.

We just don’t know exactly what road he will take on his way to sitting in the 3rd temple and proclaiming himself as God. Winning the 2024 election still seems to be the most likely scenario, but there could be other slight detours that, right now, might not be obvious to us.

Does DeSantis really want to wrestle in the mud with Trump, or will he settle for being Trump’s running mate and perhaps becoming president in 2028? Or, might Trump even leave America for a short while, perhaps living in a country where he is truly beloved: Israel.

These are exciting times, for sure, and we need to keep paying attention to see how this all pans out. But, know this much: Trump not only wants power back again, he is vengeful to an extreme.

He will do whatever it takes to not only grab all the power he can, but to completely destroy anyone who gets in his way.
