Donald Trump, Nick Fuentes, and the Future of America

We all know the story by now: a couple of weeks back former president Donald Trump had dinner with Kanye West, now known as Ye, and Nick Fuentes, a young man extremely popular with the far right because of his anti-immigration and white nationalist views.

Last week I did a couple of videos about this, one on the dinner itself and another on the silence of republicans afterwards. As I mentioned before, I was taken aback by the number of comments defending Fuentes, West, and their extreme views.

I should add, by the way, that Fuentes and others who hold his views do not like the term white nationalist because they feel it is akin to being called a Nazi.

The problem with that argument, however, is that if one holds the belief that the nation of America should primarily be a country for white people, that pretty much IS the definition of white nationalist. You may not like the term, but it is an apt description.

The reason I’m mentioning this again, however, is that yesterday I had a chance to watch “Forbidden America – Extreme and Online”, a BBC video that examines Nick Fuentes and the far-right. I have a link for that video at the top, and also down in the comments.

From what I can tell, “Forbidden America – Extreme and Online” was released just before Trump’s dinner with West and Fuentes, and over one hour, offers a fascinating and in-depth look at both Fuentes and other figures on the far right.

Although “Forbidden America” doesn’t talk specifically about Trump too much, it brings to light the ugliness that is right beneath the surface of the whole Make America Great Again movement.

That ugliness is how white nationalism, antisemitism and a hatred for immigrants are getting mixed in with all of this hyper-patriotism about America, and love for Donald J. Trump.

Even worse, all of this is poisoning the church, as more and more Christians are being exposed to these extreme beliefs, and coming to accept them as being a part of Christianity. The truth is, however, that all of these things are antithetical to what Christianity really stands for.

If you or someone you know is beginning to get wrapped up in white nationalism or other race-based beliefs, please consider what spirit is leading you to do that. Because I can tell you one thing, it’s NOT the Holy Spirit.

So, I highly recommend you find the time to watch “Forbidden America”, and after you do please leave a comment here about what you thought. Thanks for taking a moment to watch this short video, and I’ll talk to you guys soon. ♦
